Bouldering in Osp

Osp is one of the three best climbing areas in Slovenia! Before we left Hamburg for our trip, Phil bought boulder shoes and we wanted to go boulder outside, so when we read that Osp is a great climbing area we thought we might have some luck.  Sadly, in Osp there are only three small designated bouldering areas (in comparison to three massive climbing areas with a combined 600 routes!).  We found the “A” area and did some climbing and traverses, then had the PB+J lunch we packed for ourselves.  We didn’t stay all that long, however, because the landing was full of spiky plants that made it a bit unpleasant to sit on. Salt & Sinking Ships 


We started our day with bacon, eggs, and hiking. From our campsite a small trail led us to the salt pans of Sečovlje. We hiked through the hills of the peninsula and passed by a few local olive farmers who happily gave us directions when we lost the path. Surprisingly, compared to Germany all of the Slovenians we’ve met have been very outgoing, and spoken a lot of English.  All the olive farmers were burning their branches, something we’ve actually heard about from our first day here, but we still can’t figure out why they do it.  Read More

What do we, Croatia & Phil’s passport all have in common?

Here we are! Sitting in a small cafe in Izola. For all of you, who don’t know where Izola is – it’s in Slovenia. What do we, Croatia and Phil’s passport all have in common? We’re all not in the same place! Yes we are not in Croatia where we wanted to be because Phil, in switching his bags, forgot his passport. Luckily we can still travel in the EU without it.
